What and Why?
Why is Christian mentoring important?
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
"3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
For those who have experienced the compassion and comfort of the father, we understand the impact it has had on our lives, and continues to have on our every day decisions. Mentoring in general allows us to develop healthy, open relationships with girls so that when they encounter trouble, they know they have a person to go to that they can trust. As Christian mentors, we know to point mentees to God as the source of compassion and comfort, while being physical manifestations of His love.

What is virtue and why is it important?
Proverbs 31:10- declares: "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her worth is far above rubies...strength and honor are her clothing...charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord, shall be praised." Virtue is the essence of character that is left when material things are stripped away. It is more valuable than jewels and more noble than raiment. Virtue brings one blessings and blesses others. Our young women often are discouraged that virtue is passé, or unattainable. We desire to show them that virtue is relevant, important to their future, and often more interesting and easier than the alternative.

Why do mentoring in the church?
Titus 2:2-5 encourages older women to teach younger women how to become virtuous older women. Paul indicates in his letter to Titus that this type of teaching is a quality of a sound church. Women who have benefited from good example are better mothers, wives, sisters and friends.
